Governor Andrew Cuomo has proclaimed May 2nd, 2018 as Health Care Auxilian Day in New York State. This day recognizes and celebrates dedicated auxiliary members across all of New York State who donate more than five million combined hours of service to their health care facilities and communities annually. The Governor’s proclamation highlights the vital role that auxilians play as community wellness ambassadors and acknowledges the invaluable contributions they make to advance the overall quality of public health in New York State.

New York State has more than 75,000 health care auxilians throughout. Eastern Long Island Hospital is fortunate to have a strong cadre of approximately 200 extremely active auxiliary members. These incredible men and women work diligently to support the hospital’s mission to provide patient-centric care and an exceptional level of safety throughout the facility. Auxilians initiate, fund, and volunteer for a wide variety of patient and family care services. Without these outstanding individuals, our non-profit hospitals could not exist as we have come to know them.
