Free Medication Review

If you are taking multiple medications, it is recommended to have a medication review once a year with your doctor or a licensed pharmacist.

Come learn about Medication Safety tips and have one-on-one time with a licensed pharmacist to review your medications and answer any questions you might have.

Hospital pharmacists will offer one-on-one medication advice and answer specific questions about your medications.

Participants are encouraged to bring their medications and any questions they might have pertaining to their therapy. Offering this free community service is part of the hospital's commitment to the residents of the North Fork and Shelter Island area.

Safe Medication Disposal

If you are taking multiple medications, it is recommended to have a medication review once a year with your doctor or a licensed pharmacist.

The ELIH pharmacy department accepts unused, expired or unwanted medication.

Accepted medications include:

  • Over the counter (OTC) medications
  • Prescription medications* for both humans and pets

*Exceptions: Controlled substances and chemotherapeutic agents.

Medications may be dropped off between 10 am and 3 pm, seven days a week. Stop at the reception desk in the main lobby before heading to the pharmacy department.

 

Medication Disposal Guidelines

  • Medications are only accepted in their original packaging.
  • Loose tablets and capsules need to be securely contained in a re-sealable bag.
  • Liquids must be in their original container and placed in a re-sealable bag.
